Week of 8/19/17:
Self-employed borrower wants to buy a $1 million home with 30 percent down. His middle credit score is 701. Big bank turns him down because he doesn’t show enough income on his tax returns.
We get a letter from his CPA stating he’s been self-employed for at least two years. He coughs up a one month bank statement.
We get him approved on a 30-year fixed at 5.875 percent (not a pretty rate but he gets his home) with no prepayment penalty.
